There are several types of public transportation that are in used by the local people on the island of Weh. The most common are taxi or minibus. Taxis can be chartered per hour or per day with the fare being negotiable. While minibuses go on specific routes and pick-up other passengers, they can also be chartered with the same procedures as taxi. Or just hitch a ride - the locals are always wiling to stop for tourists.

Boats are also widely used for local transportation. Fishing boats are always ready to be chartered out to visitors. You can find such boats at the beach (locally called pasiran) - only a very short walk from any of the losmens.
